Brief Motivation
Fiona Asonga is the Chief Executive Officer of Technology Service Providers Association of Kenya (TESPOK) a non-for-profit industry association that operates the Kenya Internet Exchange Point and Industry Computer Security Incident Response Team. Fiona has the passion and tenacity to served the industry that is demonstrated in her service at TESPOK and to the region. Her experience in operating critical internet infrastructure and the industry association is valuable to the region in helping address the interests of all stakeholders. She continues to advocate for the use of the internet by all in a safe manner that promotes social, economic and political development of society and the multi-stakeholder engagement for digital development. She leads private sector in stakeholder partnerships and consultations that have enabled strong relationships and collaborations within the ecosystem and various interest groups. She has served AFRINIC in the past as their ASO-AC representative to ICANN reporting to the AFRINIC Board of Directors. She currently holds the positions of Advisor to the Global Cyber Alliance President and CEO, the Chairperson of the IPV6 Kenyan Chapter and Executive Committee Member of the UNIGF Supporting Organization. She has also received several professional accolades for her work that demonstrates her ability to contribute positively to AFRINIC as an institution and the regional internet ecosystem.
Professional Background
Fiona started her career in the fast moving consumer goods sector then finance investment before venturing into the information and communications sector in 2005 to 2006 as an Account Manager at Seven Seas Technologies (K) Ltd. She then moved on to take up a postion at TESPOK as an Administrator from 2006 to 2009. In 2009 the TESPOK Board of Directors created the position of a Chief Executive Oficer and began seeking to fill the role. During this time Fiona was appointed to hold the position in an Acting capacity, in 2010 the board made a decision to appoint Fiona as the Chief Executive Officer; a role that she has held to date. In addition to her role at TESPOK Fiona has held volunteer roles of service to the internet ecosystem in 2011 - 2018 as AFRINIC ASO- AC/NRO-NC Representative. She currently holds the following positions;
