AFRINIC wishes to categorically deny and dispel any fake news circulating to the effect that afrinic.net has been hacked or compromised. Our systems remain secure, and all election-related processes are being conducted safely on our trusted platforms.

We urge members and stakeholders to rely only on official AFRINIC channels for verified information.

We are writing to inform you that there will be no election for Board Seat 1 (Northern Africa region), as only one suitable candidate has been retained by the Nomination Committee. Consequently, there being only one candidate for the one (1) seat to be filled for the Northern Africa region, the said candidate will be declared elected on 12 September 2025.

Announcement of Candidate Slate for AFRINIC Board Elections 2025

 

Nomination Committee (Nomcom) 2025 is pleased to announce the final candidate slate for the following Board Seats.

  • Seat One on the AFRINIC Board: Northern Africa
  • Seat Two on the AFRINIC Board: Western Africa
  • Seat Three on the AFRINIC Board: Indian Ocean
  • Seat Four on the AFRINIC Board: Central Africa
  • Seat Five on the AFRINIC Board: Southern Africa
  • Seat Six on the AFRINIC Board: Eastern Africa
  • Seat Seven on the AFRINIC Board: Non-Regional
  • Seat Eight on the AFRINIC Board: Non-Regional

The election will be conducted electronically. The electronic voting period will be from 10 September 2025 at 12:00 MUT to 12 September 2025 at 20:00 MUT.

Important Communique Dated 06 September 2025

  1. Reference is made to the Court Order dated 05 September 2025 in the matter Cloud Innovation Ltd v G Dabee & Anor (Case Ref: SC/COM/WRT/000599/2025See Order 

  2. Pursuant to the above Order, the Honourable Judge of the SupremeCourt of Mauritius has on, 05 September 2025, ordered that “the Receiver proceeds with the election process in the presence of the Electoral Commissioner who will oversee and supervise the election process of the 12 September 2025 with a view to ensuring that the election process is carried out in a free and fair manner in the best interests of AfriNIC all its members."

  3. The Receiver, in the presence of members of the ElectionCommittee, held a consultation meeting with the Electoral Commissioner of Mauritius on 06 September 2025.

  4. Following the said meeting, the voting period for the AFRINIC Board Election has been amended as follows:

    • Opening of online voting:* Wednesday, 10 September 2025 at 12:00 MUT

    • Closing of online voting:* Friday, 12 September 2025 at 20:00 MUT

  5. Resource members are encouraged to take note of the above and to participate actively in this election.

AFRINIC Board Election: Deadline extension for the Call for candidates

We are pleased to announce the extension of the call for candidates for the AFRINIC Board Election to Tuesday, 2 September 2025 at 23:59 MUT . We encourage you to submit nominations for the following open Board positions.  The voting period for board election 2025 has been extended from 8 to 15 September 2025. 

Seat One: North Africa;
Seat Two: West Africa;
Seat Three: Indian Ocean;
Seat Four: Central Africa;
Seat Five: Southern Africa;
Seat Six: Eastern Africa;
Seat Seven: Region-Independent;
Seat Eight: Region-Independent.

Nominations can be submitted through our online forms.
 
As a reminder, all candidate nominations should be  accompanied by a corresponding support letter from both the nominating organisation and seconding organisation respectively.

For Seats 1–6
The nominator must be from the same country as the candidate.
The seconder must be from the same subregion as the candidate.

For Seats 7–8
The nominator must be from the same country as the candidate
The seconder may be from any AFRINIC region.

Important Information about Nominating Organisation and Seconding Organisation to assist prospective candidates in the submission of the candidature

  • We are providing two templates for candidates to adopt. The nominator is required to submit a supporting letter as per the  Template (PDF). 
    The seconder is required to submit a supporting letter as per the Template (PDF).

Individuals who have already submitted their candidature are invited to ensure that their corresponding supporting letters cover the gist of the aforementioned template letters provided.
