Mr. Ranveer Kumar Seetaloo
Nationality: Mauritian
Country of Residence: Mauritius
Organisation or affiliation: Kaldera Ltd
Position: Managing Director
Brief Motivation
I bring over two decades of leadership in Internet infrastructure across Africa, serving as Managing Director of Kaldera and previously chairing the M‑IXP and serving on INX‑ZA’s board. My experience spans technical operations (IPv4/IPv6 deployment, BGP, datacentres, and IXPs), strategic expansion, governance, and policy engagement—precisely the multidisciplinary profile needed for a region‑independent Board seat (Seats 7 & 8 open to candidates from any sub‑region).
I fully meet the Election Criteria: I’m a natural person above 18, solvent, ethically sound, and willing to consent in writing and join as a Member if elected. I commit the time required and have no conflicts of interest. My track record in strategic leadership, financial oversight, M&A, cross‑border growth, and governance positions me strongly on the Specific Candidate Criteria spectrum.
If elected, I will:
- Reinforce transparent, community-driven governance and restore institutional trust amid AFRINIC’s ongoing receivership and governance challenges.
- Support a fair, inclusive Policy Development Process and broaden participation across continents and constituencies.
- Strengthen operational efficiency, member service responsiveness, and sound financial oversight.
- Drive capacity-building across technical and policy domains—a continuity of AFRINIC's mission of equitable Internet development.
- As a region-independent candidate, I offer cross-sub-regional perspective, impartiality, and a pan-African commitment to AFRINIC
Professional Background
With over two decades of experience in the telecommunications and Internet infrastructure sector, I have built a career at the intersection of technology, business strategy, and policy engagement across Africa and the Indian Ocean region.
I currently serve as Managing Director of Kaldera Ltd, a licensed Internet Service Provider in Mauritius, where I lead strategic planning, day-to-day operations, and cross-border expansion. Under my leadership since November 2023, Kaldera has achieved 200% growth in both revenue and profit after tax, entered new markets through the acquisition of three telecom operators and a tower operator, and expanded into Madagascar with the launch of Kaldera Technologies. I have repositioned the company from a pure telco into a diversified technology provider, integrating IP-PBX, cybersecurity, cloud, data centre, enterprise IT, and managed services offerings, while building a strong partner ecosystem with global technology leaders.
Previously, as Head of Telecom Business at Rogers Capital Technology Services (2018–2023), I delivered 300% growth in revenue and profit over four years, negotiated capacity on 18+ submarine cables, and established 14 international points of presence. My role included overseeing global expansion, direct peering arrangements, and becoming the first Microsoft Express Route Partner for Mauritius.
In earlier roles, including Chief Technical Officer at Africa Digital Bridges Networks and various senior operational and project management positions, I developed deep technical expertise in IP core networks, BGP, MPLS, IXPs, network security, and data centre operations, complemented by strong skills in project governance, budgeting, and risk management.
My policy and governance contributions include serving as Chairman of the Mauritius Internet Exchange Point (M-IXP) since 2018—instrumental in enabling nationwide “work from home” during the pandemic—and as a Board Member of INX-ZA (Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town IXPs) from 2018–2020, working alongside global content and network providers such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and Vodafone. I also participated in drafting the 2013 ICT Policy for Mauritius and contributed to setting governance frameworks for the M-IXP.
I hold a Master’s in Business Administration and a BSc in Computer Science. My combined business acumen, technical depth, and governance experience equip me to contribute effectively to AFRINIC’s Board. I understand the strategic importance of a Regional Internet Registry and the operational challenges faced by its members.
I bring proven leadership, financial oversight capability, technical credibility, and a pan-African perspective—qualities that align with the responsibilities of a region-independent Board seat. I am committed to advancing AFRINIC’s mission, strengthening transparency and trust, and promoting equitable Internet development for all African stakeholders.
